Here are Details for Construction of Bike Lanes in Jakarta This Year

The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has built 196.45 kilometers of bike lanes in 26 segments.

The bike lane construction will be completed by the end of this year

The 26 segments consist of 12 bike lanes along 39.06 kilometers and 25 lanes along 156.79 kilometers.

Dishub Head, Syafrin Liputo said that now the progress of bike track construction in 26 new route segments has reached 10 percent, including road markings.

The bike lanes will be given a barrier in the form of stick cones, while the shared bike lanes will be fitted with road studs.

“After painting the road markings, signs and barriers will be installed soon. The lanes that have been completed can be used directly by cyclists. In overall, the bike lane construction will be completed by the end of this year," he expressed, Tuesday (9/13).

He explained the total existing bike lanes in Jakarta are currently 114.5 kilometers. With this expansion, the length of bike lanes in Jakarta will be approximately 300 kilometers.

The bike lane development is a Regional Strategic Activity (KSD) Number 36 related to the Development of Bicycle Infrastructure and Facilities.

Aside that, the Cycling Friendly Jakarta program is a campaign from the Jakarta Provincial Government in a bid to improve the quality of supporting facilities and infrastructure for eco-friendly vehicles by building integrated bike lanes in Jakarta.

"The change in the transportation paradigm in Jakarta is realized through a priority policy for handling transportation that places eco-friendly vehicles such as bicycles as the second priority after pedestrians," he stated.

The following are 26 bicycle lane segments or routes that will be built in 2022 along 196.45 kilometers:

1. Prof. Dr. Satrio-Kampung Melayu (13.50 kilometers)

2. D.I. Panjaitan-Yos Sudarso (23.78 kilometers)

3. Gambir-Cikini-Rasuna (15.44 kilometers)

4. Tugu Tani-Simpang Senen (1.58 kilometers)

5. Simpang Senen-Salemba Raya (5.75 kilometers)

6. Otto Iskandar Dinata (4.33 kilometers)

7. M.T. Haryono-Gatot Subroto-Palmerah (19.25 kilometers)

8. Dr. Sahardjo-Dr. Supomo (9.25 kilometers)

9. Kebayoran Baru Extention (6.63 kilometers)

10. Pattimura-Iskandarsyah Raya (3.77 kilometers)

11. Pejompongan Galunggung (8.75 kilometers)

12. Perintis Kemerdekaan-Simpang Senen (16.79 kilometers)

13. S. Parman (8.41 kilometers)

14. Juanda - Pecenongan (1.74 kilometers)

15. Suryopranoto-Pos (6.36 kilometers)
